Emily Chiang is a filmmaker, graphic designer, and photographer born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and currently based in Upstate New York. She recently graduated from Syracuse University with a B.F.A degree, majoring in film and minoring in photography, video, and design.

Emily began her creative journey as a filmmaker with various experiences in creating narrative shorts, documentaries, and experimental films. Emily once believed making films was out of reach for her until she realized how deeply she wanted to share her own stories. She is passionate about using different types of visuals for storytelling and exploring diverse topics, recently mainly focused on cultural differences, minority groups, and social issues. She believes it is essential to use our voices to open discussions for the audience, inspire and awaken people to hear and reflect on the topics that are usually being ignored and the voices that are silenced.

Besides filmmaking, Emily is now exploring graphic design, including publication, typography, illustration, packaging, and branding design. Through her creative thinking and aesthetic, Emily believes her goal is to make her works bold, creative, and powerful, able to make her works as a medium to communicate with people.
